This course is for students who wish to pursue a career in engineering with interest in aerospace engineering.
The purpose of Higher Nationals in Aeronautical Engineering is to develop students as professional, self-reflecting, individuals able to meet the demands of employers in the rapidly evolving aeronautical sector and adapt to a constantly changing world. The qualifications also aim to widen access to higher education and enhance the career prospects of those who undertake them.
The Higher Nationals in Aeronautical Engineering is divided into two parts, as follows:
Higher National Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering – Level 5
Higher National Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering – Level 4
Due to the recent increase in demand for both professional engineers and aircraft engineers in particular, Prime College is now offering this course as a pathway into the aerospace industry. On completing the course successful students will be eligible to either progress on to higher education programmes or apply for industry apprenticeship schemes in the civil and military sectors to train as licensed aircraft engineers.

Higher National Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering
The Level 5 HND in aerospace engineering requires two years’ study with Prime College. Throughout the course, you will be required to complete 15 core subjects, optional and specialised modules.
To achieve the qualification, a student must have completed units equivalent to 120 credits at level 4 and 120 credits at level 5 and scored at least a pass in 105 credits at level 4 and 105 credits at level 5, amounting to 210 + credits.

Undergraduate Courses (Level 4 and 5)
Level 4 courses come in the form of 1st year of a bachelors programme or HNC (Higher National Certificate).
The Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Aeronautical Engineering offers students a broad introduction to the subject area via a mandatory core of learning, while allowing for the acquisition of some sector-specific skills and experience through the specialist units, with the opportunity to pursue a particular interest through the appropriate selection of optional units. This effectively builds underpinning core skills while preparing the student for more intense subject specialization at Level 5. Students will gain a wide range of sector knowledge tied to practical skills gained in research, self-study, directed study and workplace activities.
In this course, students will learn to fly a plane through a simulator and, simultaneously, if they are interested in taking a pilot course that we offer at our college.
The Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering come in the form of 2nd year of a bachelors programmes or a HND (Higher National Diploma). Depending on the Type of associate degree a student may be able to start their 3rd year of bachelors (The course must be the same as the one they are applying for). Higher National Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering – Level 5.
The Level 5 Higher National Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering offers students a pathway designed to support progression into relevant occupational areas or onto the degree-level study. This pathway is linked to Professional Body standards (where appropriate) and can provide progression towards professional status or entry to the later stages of an appropriate degree. Holders of the Level 5 Higher National Diploma will have developed a sound understanding of the principles in their field of study and will have learned to apply those principles more widely. Through this, they will have learned to evaluate the appropriateness of different approaches to solving problems. They will be able to perform effectively in their chosen field and will have the qualities necessary for employment in situations requiring the exercise of personal responsibility and decision-making.
Duration of Course: A two year course 18/24 month.
